The following is a list of resources available to members of the MEDCoE community and members of the US military community. It does not provide exhaustive information about each resource. Instead, it provides just enough information for you to quickly determine what resources are available to serve your needs. You can then use the included phone numbers or web links to obtain more detailed information for a particular resource.
Get Connected to a Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC)
MFLCs provide non-medical counseling and training to Service members, their Family members, and significant others addressing life skills topics such as:
- Daily life issues
- Stress management
- Anger management
- Conflict resolution
- Relationship and family issues
- Marriage enrichment
- Grief and loss
- Challenges with the military lifestyle including:
- Relocation adjustment
- Separation and loss
- Deployment stress
- Reintegration issues
This support is aimed at preventing the development or exacerbation of behavioral health conditions that may detract from military and family readiness. With the exception of mandatory state, federal and military reporting requirements (domestic violence, child abuse and duty to warn situations), counseling is private and confidential and no records are kept. After-hours and weekend appointments are available as well as off-site or group meetings. Call to schedule an appointment.

inTransition is a free, confidential program that offers specialized coaching and assistance for Active-Duty Service members, National Guard members, Reservists, Veterans and Retirees who need access to behavioral health care. inTransition services are available to ALL military members regardless of length of service or discharge status and there is NO expiration date to enroll. Get connected to JBSA - Fort Sam Houston Community Resources
The JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Community Resource Guide (CRG) is a comprehensive inventory of programs and services available to the JBSA community. The CRG includes a needs-based search engine that allows the JBSA Family to identify and access programs and services. The CRG helps community members identify resources, programs, and services based on need or category. The CRG also serves as a referral document for commanders, community leaders, and program managers. Use this CRG to empower yourself to find the programs and services you need to be a successful member of the JBSA Family. Wherever you go, there will be a CRG!
The Vogel Resiliency Center (VRC) provides health and wellness programs for the JBSA community. VRC empowers individuals, families and organizations by exploring mind, body and spirit lifestyle changes.

The JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Army Wellness Center (AWC) provides programs and services that improve and sustain individual health, performance, and readiness of Service Members delivered by highly trained health professionals. AWC services include: health assessments, wellness education, physical fitness, weight control, stress management, biofeedback and unit assessments.

The Real Warriors Campaign - External Link
The Real Warriors Campaign promotes a culture of support for psychological health by encouraging the military community to reach out for help whether coping with the daily stresses of military life, or concerns like depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder. The campaign links Service members, Veterans and their Families with care and provides free, confidential resources including online articles, print materials, videos and podcasts.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline
SAMHSA’s National Helpline 1-800-662-HELP (4357) is a free, confidential, 24/7, 365-day-a-year treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.
Behavioral Health and Wellness VA Mobile Apps
Search for free, available VA apps that equip you with tools and information to assist you in managing stress, learning to practice mindfulness and strengthening parenting skills.
Leader Resources
The Army Resilience Directorate provides policy, resources, and capabilities for individuals and leaders in order to increase resilience and readiness.
Psychological Health Center of Excellence
The Psychological Health Center of Excellence improves the lives of our nation’s Service members, Veterans, and their Families by advancing excellence in psychological health care, readiness, and prevention of psychological health disorders.
For use by Unit Commanders and Leaders, Chaplains, Casualty Assistance Officers, First Responders, Military Investigators, Non-Clinical Providers, Suicide Prevention Program Managers, and Long-Term Casualty Term Casualty Support Coordinators.
